Can Venice Continue to Coast?

LaFayette, we were there


The LaFayette Café located on the Ocean Front Walk and Westminster Avenue was a meeting place for Venetians since the 1950s and before. It was one of the few sit down places on the ocean front where one could get Coffee and Conversation after the coffee houses were shut down by the Venice Civic Union.

Coastal Commission says NO to widening of Lincoln Blvd.

At least we won one victory against development during the past month. It was the Coastal Commission to the rescue again. This time against CalTrans, with Playa Vista in the background, which wanted to widen Lincoln Blvd. to seven lanes through the Ballona Wetlands.

Even Bigger Developments on the Way!

On Thursday, January 23, a hearing was held by the Los Angeles City Planning Commission on an amendment to the Venice Coastal Specific Plan to make it consistent with the Venice Coastal Land Use Plan. A number of Venetians attended this hearing, because one item in the amendment would permit three-lot consolidations in Oakwood and in the Marina Peninsula.
