Lincoln Center creeping back
Just when you thought it was safe to go to
Ralphs, the mega-project planned for the Lincoln Blvd. site is showing signs of
life. Many Venetians thought the L.A. Planning Commission had driven a stake
through the heart of the most despised project last month.
However, reports reaching the Beachhead say
the Boston developers have met with some members of the Venice Community
Coalition - one of the most adamant opponents of the project - to try to get
their buy-in for a new design.
The
major elements of the new plan reportedly include a “step-back”
construction style but no height reduction. The entire project would be
surrounded by a 35-foot wall, increasing its fortress-like appearance.
Beachhead sources say Councilmember Cindy
Miscikowski is pushing for completion of the project before she goes out of
office next June 30. There’s no word on when (or if) the developers will
take the project to the community.
