July 12 meeting:

Oppose hate crimes. We, the elected Neighborhood Council of Venice, do hereby oppose any hate-type crimes, activities, and behaviors such as hate speech that may lead to hate crimes and activities, which are directed at people because of their status, e.g. extreme poverty or homelessness, race, ethnicity,gender, sexual preference, disability, or any other alternatives lifestyles. July 26 meeting:

GRVNC urges city of L.A. to respond of the California Coastal Commission Staff request that it submit the City’s Implementing Ordinances (LIP) for the Venice Local Coastal Plan and urges Councilperson Cindy Miscikowski inform the City Council of the Boards decision and to advocate for it. PASSED BY UNANIMOUS CONSENT

Oakwood Picnic Area Preservation - GRVNC recommends preservation of the Oakwood Recreation Center Picnic Area as a community resource and a cultural heritage and hereby requests that Councilperson Cindy Miscikowski inform the City Council of the Boards Decision and to advocate for it. PASSED BY UNANIMOUS CONSENT

1. 24-hour restrooms at the beach; 2. Use of Railroad Right-of-Way Land; 3. Shuttle buses; 4. City response to the Coastal Commission; 5. Preservation of Oakwood Recreation Center Picnic Area. PASSED BY UNANIMOUS CONSENT

GRVNC opposes Playa Vista Phase Two

(1) Adopt LUPC-prepared Draft report on FEIR, Vesting Tentative Tract Map, Plan Amendments, and Development Agreement. (2) Adopt recommendation for official position of GRVNC relative to the proposed development and its impacts on stakeholders ["Community Impact Statement"]. (3) Adopt and officially endorse petition similar to Mar Vista Community Council petition. (4) Approve transmittal of aforementioned materials to City Planning, City Council, and Mayor. B. Poverty and Homeless Committee (Action Required): The Board supports the Safer People’s initiative authorizing overnight sleeping places for people in Los Angeles. PASSED Yes - 10; No - 1; Absentions - 2
