The Beachhead’s Restaurant Review
Words to eat Yuppies
by
Essie comes out of her retirement
temporarily to report this happening with mixed emotions. Letting this news out
might ruin a good thing. But its already been reported by a major media outlet
and there is a moral.
“Trocas,”the produce
trucks and lunch trucks that park on Rose ave to serve the Latino work force
that still remain on Rose ave, in spite of the “upgrading”, i.e.,
gentrification efforts of the property owners. There have been efforts to rid
the area of light manufacturing such as the Pioneer Bakery and service centers
for low-income residents and workers “Those people who perform janitorial
services and are bakers, etc.”
The developers want to turn Rose ave
into something more “charming” and upscale have been going on for
years. On Sep 1st KABC news announced that the magazine BON APETIT, one of the
yuppy food bibles, has named Marisco lunch truck one of the best neighborhood
restaurants in the U.S. Essie observes that the Marisco truck parks East of the
Rose Café, also named one of the best neighborhood restaurants in the U.S.
Take that yuppy scum! Essie has mixed feelings about this.
One, a feeling of I told you so
because Essie has savoured the burritos, tacos, etc, the trucas served. Now she
fears she needs reservations and instead of the puerco burritos it will be pork
loin gently bathed in an infusion of Napa-Sonoma Cabernet glazed with a Chipotle
sauce.
Signed,
Essie
