What is VCHC?

Founded in 1988, The Venice Community Housing Corporation’s mission is to preserve, maintain and expand affordable housing opportunities for low-income people, especially families; provide economic development opportunities and support services; increase understanding and support for these community development activities so that the economic, racial, and social diversity of Venice and surrounding areas is preserved.

VCHC offers a variety of programs in addition to ClayWorks and ClayWorks for Kids that work synergistically to foster stable, self-reliant individuals, families and neighborhoods.

These include: VCHC’s Affordable Housing Program, development and maintenance of affordable housing; Human Services, provides a range of family services on-site at our housing facilities; Infant Toddler Development Center in cooperation with St. Joseph’s Center, provides childcare for children ages 3 months to 3 years; YouthBuild, provides construction job training/leadership development services for youth age 17-24; BuildingWorks a micro-enterprises that provides transitional employment in construction work; and HandyWorker, provides free home repairs to low-income elderly and disabled homeowners.
