What is VCHC?
Founded in 1988, The Venice Community Housing
Corporation’s mission is to preserve, maintain and expand affordable
housing opportunities for low-income people, especially families; provide
economic development opportunities and support services; increase understanding
and support for these community development activities so that the economic,
racial, and social diversity of Venice and surrounding areas is preserved.
VCHC offers a variety of programs in
addition to ClayWorks and ClayWorks for Kids that work synergistically to foster
stable, self-reliant individuals, families and neighborhoods.
These include: VCHC’s Affordable
Housing Program, development and maintenance of affordable housing; Human
Services, provides a range of family services on-site at our housing facilities;
Infant Toddler Development Center in cooperation with St. Joseph’s Center,
provides childcare for children ages 3 months to 3 years; YouthBuild, provides
construction job training/leadership development services for youth age 17-24;
BuildingWorks a micro-enterprises that provides transitional employment in
construction work; and HandyWorker, provides free home repairs to low-income
elderly and disabled homeowners.
