Kerry Defeats Bush
Californians overwhelmingly support John
Kerry in poll
By Jim
Smith
At press time, the latest polls
showed John Kerry winning 55 percent of the vote compared to only 40 percent for
George W. Bush, who had been declared president four years ago by the Supreme
Court.
Likely voters in California favored Sen.
John Kerry over his opponent, George Bush, by 15 percentage points - 55% to
40%.
Californians particularly
disapprove of the Iraq war and occupation, with only 39 percent approving and 60
percent disapproving, according to a recent Los Angeles Times
poll.
Even on terrorism, Bush’s
strong suit back east, Californians give him a failing grade - 46% - 52%.
VP Dick Cheney, likewise, is not that
popular in our state - 56% have a negative impression of the former Halliburton
CEO.
On Iraq, 60 percent of likely
voters disapprove of the way the war has been handled, and 56% don’t think
it was worthwhile.
While most
Californians seem to loathe Bush, they aren’t that wild about Kerry,
either. Fully 40 percent of those polled - before the debates - had an
unfavorable impression of the
Senator.
Many voters don’t have a
clue what their candidate will do if he is elected. Neither Bush nor Kerry has
provided a detailed plan for policies that he would pursue as president, say 15
percent of those polled. Another 10 percent say neither candidate “cares
about people like me.”
Neither
Bush nor Kerry has come to California, except to raise money for
“swing” states. Kerry’s lead over Bush is greater in
California than it is in any other state. If Kerry were to lose California, it
would probably mean that he had lost every state in the
union.
Therefore, the Free Venice
Beachhead is declaring Massachusetts Senator John F. Kerry the winner of the
presidential election in California.
Meanwhile, it won’t hurt to vote
on Nov. 2. There are quite a few interesting races for other offices, and there
are all those Propositions.
Voters
might want to consider other presidential candidates to vote for since Kerry is
on his way to a landslide.
In addition
to Kerry/Edwards and Bush/Cheney, the following presidential candidates will be
on the ballot:
